It’s a fair question, but there really isn’t one price that fits every home. Two houses in the Tulsa area can have the same number of windows and still end up with very different quotes.

Size is one of the first things we look at.
A standard bedroom window is going to be different from a large living-room window or an oversized opening. Larger windows require more material and glass, and some can require additional labor during installation.
That’s why we measure each opening before putting together a quote instead of trying to give someone a one-size-fits-all price.
Not every replacement window is built the same.
Double-hung, single-hung, slider, casement, picture and specialty windows all have different designs and hardware.
A simple picture window, for example, doesn’t have the same operating components as a casement window. Specialty shapes and custom configurations can also affect the final cost.
The goal isn’t necessarily to buy the most expensive style. It’s to choose the window that works best for the opening and how you use that room.
The glass package can make a noticeable difference in both performance and price.

For Oklahoma homeowners, this is an area worth paying attention to. We deal with hot summers, cold winter days and plenty of temperature swings.
The U.S. Department of Energy recommends looking at more than just the number of panes. Frame material, glazing, gas fills, spacers and the way the window operates all affect overall energy performance.
ENERGY STAR also recommends choosing windows based on the climate where they’re being installed and looking at ratings such as U-factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC).
In other words, paying more doesn’t automatically mean you’re getting a better-performing window.
This is one people don’t always think about.
Sometimes we remove an old window and the opening is in good condition. Other times there may be damaged wood, deterioration around the sill or other issues that need to be addressed before the new window can be installed correctly.
Those situations can require additional materials and labor.
Proper installation matters. Putting a good window into a bad opening without addressing the underlying problem isn’t something we believe in doing.
The total number of windows obviously affects the overall project cost, but it can also affect the cost per window.
There are certain setup, transportation and labor costs involved every time an installation crew comes to a home. ENERGY STAR notes that larger replacement projects can reduce installation costs per window because those setup costs are spread across more windows.
That doesn’t mean you have to replace every window in your house at once.
Some homeowners replace their entire home. Others start with the worst windows and complete the project in stages. We can look at both options.
Customization can also change the price.
White vinyl is a popular choice, but homeowners may want different interior or exterior colors. Decorative grids, upgraded hardware and other design options can also add to the cost.
These choices aren’t necessarily about energy efficiency—they’re often about getting the look you want for your home.
This is one area where we don’t recommend shopping on price alone.
You can buy a great window, but if it’s installed incorrectly, you may never get the performance you expected from it.
The window needs to be properly measured, set, insulated, sealed and finished.
ENERGY STAR specifically warns that improper installation can allow water into the wall and potentially lead to water damage.
When you’re comparing window quotes, make sure you’re comparing the window AND the installation, not just the brand name on the glass.
Homeowners are sometimes surprised when they receive several quotes and the prices are nowhere close to each other.
Part of that can be differences in the actual windows.
But you’re also paying for how a company operates.
Large advertising campaigns, commissioned salespeople, long in-home presentations and corporate overhead all cost money somewhere along the way.

That’s a much better comparison than getting caught up in a huge percentage-off promotion or a “buy one, get one” offer.
